Plain good sense as sure as night and day

In the late 1970’s John Siddons had an idea for a heat pump water heater. Ingenuity and excellence ran in his blood, his father being Royston Siddons, creator and founder of Sidchrome Spanners.

Working from a small shed at the rear of the Sidchrome factory, John was fuelled by a vision that energy saving technology was not only good for the environment but also just plain good sense.
Unwilling to compromise, by 1983 John had a product he was satisfied with, the ‘Siddons Solar Plus’, which was released as a ‘solar boosted heat pump water heater’ and was the first generation heat pump water heater on the Australian market. The design was very successful and set a new benchmark for energy savings.

The State Electrical Commission surveyed one hundred users of the product and the response was the best they had ever received from a survey. Customer satisfaction reached new heights and many of these early heat pump water heaters are actually still in service today.

John kept improving his heat pump and in 1989 formed Quantum Energy Systems. Quantum developed a new generation of air, water and heat recovery heat pump water heaters which were exported to China, Italy, Singapore and throughout the world. The Siddons family sold Quantum in the late nineties and then started researching improvements to the Heat Pump Water Heater which led to a new patented condensor tank, improvements in the heat pump design and the formation of Siddons Solarstream Pty Ltd in 2005 to commercialise this new design.

Today the Siddons Solarstream heat pump water heater is something special.

Using clever innovation the heat pump is specifically designed to operate night and day to produce energy efficient hot water from off peak electrical tariffs for reliable savings of up to 75% of electrical power consumption.

A marine grade stainless steel tank, patented ‘direct transfer’ technology, ozone friendly refrigerant and an exclusive, intelligent de-icing function set it apart in the market.

Now in the third generation, Siddons is looking towards to the future with a continuing commitment to new improvements for the Solarstream heat pump water heater design.

The vision remains as it was in the beginning, to offer Australians the best energy efficient and reliable hot water system on the market. It’s still plain good sense, as sure as night and day.
