Troubleshooting
My Solarstream is not working, why?
- First, check that the Heat Pump is connected to an electrical outlet and that power is available at the outlet by testing it with another electrical product.
- Check that the thermostat electrical wiring coming from the Heat Pump is properly connected to the thermostat on the tank located under the higher cover. Also check that the thermostat is firmly fixed against the steel wall of the tank. It may be possible that the thermostat itself is faulty or has worn out. This is a readily available, low cost part that can be mailed to you for replacement.
- Check that there is no evidence of leaking refrigerant gas pipes, that the couplers connecting the Heat Pump to the tank are tightly fastened (refer Installation Manual page 6)
- Check that the gas flow is unrestricted, that the gas valve is open, large valve requires about 6 turns anti-clockwise, small valve requires about 3 turns anti-clockwise (refer Installation Manual page 6) and also check that there are no kinks or twists in the gas lines between the Heat Pump and Water Tank, particularly near the coupling connections at each end. If the system requires re-gassing, you will need to call in a refrigeration mechanic to re-gas with R417a.
If you are still experiencing problems, contact your local Siddons Solarstream Dealer or Siddons Solarstream directly.
My Solarstream seems to be operating for too long each day, over 4 hours under normal domestic family use, and/or the fin coil of the Heat Pump evaporator is icing up in plus zero temperatures?
It is likely that your refrigerant levels are too low, you may even have a slow gas leak. You will need to contact a Refrigeration Mechanic to check for gas leakage and re-gas your unit. The gas charge in the whole Solarstream standard system (with 2m refrigeration connection lines) should be 1.5kg of R417A, which is essentially a new ozone friendly version of R22 gas. Your Refrigeration Mechanic can check the pressure of the high pressure hot gas line to indicate gas levels, this should read around 2,500 kPa if it is correctly gassed.
For all warranty claims, please initially contact your installing plumber or dealer for advice. Should you be unable to contact them for any reason, please contact Siddons Solarstream directly and we will be happy to assist you. Please make sure you have noted your serial number for warranty verification purposes.
